Education & Outreach
Children's Center for Dance Education (CCDE) distinguishes itself from all others with over 15 years of continued dedicated service to the community. By creating new ballets of excellence that are stimulating and culturally relevant to diverse audiences, CCDE is developing an innovative approach to ballet training that welcomes diversity, and ensures unanimous participation and achievement by all students. Our organization strives to produce sustainable, inclusive and engaging outreach programs that make ballet accessible to participants of all racial, cultural and economic backgrounds. By repositioning the role of dance in our culture, our organization expands our mission in the education of youth and enrichment of community. Children's Center for Dance Education is unique in regional ballet. Our program’s reputation for fine training and its humanizing approach to ballet education is unsurpassed in the Tri-State Region. Dance participants receive customized, personal instruction and mentoring through dedicated, experienced dance educators. Our instructors offer innovative training methods that prepare young dancers for not only the world of dance, but for life in general. Through focus on discipline, creative expression, healthy body confidence, and healthy life style students are given a foundation to excel no matter what their chosen path.
An impressive record of training students who pursue professional careers in dance, are only one instance of Children Center for Dance Education's proven success. Our Company is a unique performing group of talented students, selected by audition that present public performances regionally every year. CCDE travels to communities and venues, which traditionally are without access to ballet performances. CCDE is proud to say that our program is the only one of its kind in The Tri-State Region. CCDE has provided an array of school performances to regional elementary and secondary schools. Through these partnerships, CCDE provides support to teachers such as educational materials, study guides, worksheets, and music to enhance the understanding of the performing arts. The goal of CCDE is to bring ballet to diverse, under-served audiences and provide students with extensive performance experience.
Since its inception in 1995, Children's Center for Dance Education has held strong to the belief that all children should have access to the fine art of dance regardless of financial circumstances. In order to meet this high organizational standard, CCDE offers financial assistance for students participating in the regular class schedule. For its annual production of The Nutcracker and its Spring Performance, CCDE invites area children who wish to gain professional theatrical experience to open auditions. By offering open auditions to the largest performances of the year, CCDE meets the inclusiveness that is built into our mission.
In addition to our educational programs for primary and secondary students there are additional offerings throughout the community created to accompany most productions. Typically these include vignettes and performance series at libraries and museums as well as other open performances. CCDE also offers in-school and after school out-reach programs that work with area middle school students to help build self-confidence, positive body image, self-worth, and life skills through the art and discipline of dance. CCDE is committed to making ballet an accessible art form to all children and would love to have you join us in this endeavor.
