HISTORY

Deena Laska-Lewis

The Artistic Director and driving force behind Children’s Center for Dance Education is Ms. Deena Laska-Lewis. Educated at the North Carolina School of the Arts, Indiana University, and Julliard School of Music, she employs a graded Russian syllabus that stresses education on muscle structure for correct placement and alignment.
  Children's Dance Theater
Ms. Laska-Lewis established Children’s Dance Theatre in 1995 to fulfill a dream of making dance accessible to all children, regardless of race, creed or finance. She has since opened studios in Warrick and Gibson counties in Indiana as well as Henderson, Kentucky and developed a scholarship program to assist families with financial need.
The Children’s Dance Theatre Company

A group of highly motivated students who present various ballets to Tri-State school systems and the general public, has also been established by Mrs. Laska-Lewis.

Children’s Center for Dance Education
In 2000, the Children’s Dance Theatre Board of Directors and Mrs. Laska-Lewis recognized the increasing emphasis of Children’s Dance Theatre on education. Thus, the Board voted in April 2000 to change the name of our organization to Children’s Center for Dance Education. This name more accurately reflects the primary mission of bringing dance to all children and will allow us the opportunity to expand into serving areas such as special needs children, high-risk children, and transitory children.

Children's Center for Dance Education offers classes for boys & girls of all ages.
